The type of equipment you may get will depend on the outcome of the assessment by the Occupational Therapist or Community Care Assistant. They will consider;
- the person’s individual needs.
- the most cost effective equipment.
- safest solution available for the person’s needs.
- your own bathroom at home.
Bath seats of various types are usually available free of charge as are toilet frames and raised toilet seats. Usually non slip bath mats are not supplied but are advisable. Shower stools or bath seats for sculpted baths are available but may have to be ordered as a special item. Additional rails at the toilet or bath/shower can be supplied but should be fitted by a recognised tradesman who is usually employed or contracted to the local authority. Commodes, catheter bag stands or urine bottles are also supplied free if required.
