9) The Disabled Council Tax Band Reduction Scheme

The Disabled Council Tax Band Reduction Scheme applies if a property has been adapted or is larger than would normally be required if the person was not disabled. Usually the property would be graded at a band lower then it would normally be valued at. For example from a band D to a band C. For a band A property the reduction would be one sixth.

For people on low incomes rebates of up to 100% are possible but will depend on income, savings, dependent children and disability. If you think you may be eligible for council tax discounts contact your local council.
