Visual Problems

1) Introduction

Visual problems after stroke are common and can be distressing.
A human eye
Some visual problems will improve spontaneously but unfortunately some will not. It is advisable to wait at least six weeks after a stroke before having an eye test to allow time for the vision to recover.

Problems fall into three broad categories:

  • Problems with eye movements.
  • Problems with the visual pathways which transfer images from the eye to the brain.
  • Problems with the eye itself.
