Spirituality is our own inner way of finding meaning, peace and a contentedness in life. It is not limited to religious tradition or institution. Where do we find this inner strength? What is it in our lives which gives us an internal support and comfort when we are faced with difficulties or situations we cannot control such as illness?
Life and how we cope with it is complicated. This process is a journey and we change and adapt as we move on. Our views on life change as we have different experiences. Illness can make us look at how our values and virtues shape who we are. The deeper meaning of what it is to be moral, compassionate, vulnerable, forgiving and respectful. We develop an awareness of being part of the natural world around us. Wholeness in yourself, the connections and relationships with others around you on more than just a superficial level. We can gain such support and strength from others even if they do not have all the answers.
