Several government papers have been published aiming for better services for chronic or long term conditions. These documents are important because they outline what services are available or should be available in future. They include publications specifically about stroke and about carer’s issues to help you get access to services more easily. Once you have information it is much easier to help the person you care for to control and take responsibility for their own health needs to manage their condition themselves. You are also in a stronger position to influence change or fight for services locally backed up by the recommendations in these documents.
